Let’s talk about Autism

Has anyone ever considered that autism could be the effects of prolonged bullying and not genetic condition in adults? That’s another discussion altogether but I would like to pose a question to the current government what is being done to support those with this condition. Who need support, to get the best out of their lives and the families who can continue to carry out their normal live’s. Most importantly to maintain a balanced life by working and contributing to the economy. Shouldn’t autism be given the same priority as cancer that needs a cure as it is an ongoing epidemic. Children with autism are equally talented in their own unique way that are no different from any other child who need the right direction and guidance who can also contribute to society as adults. These children who then grow up to become adults should not ostracised in society as they are also who human that every right to be here as any other human and more awareness needs to be generated. Therefore, the government needs to invest in further learning support for these children in schools and throughout adult life ideally as the condition deteriorates over the years. I would like to advise the parents of these children to engage their children in extracurricular activities as much as possible to limit the effects of this condition as I have seen great results from family members who have children with autism who did not require specialist support. However, on the other hand I would like to ask the government this question is this condition being over diagnosed to hold those who come from an ethnic minority background back in terms of progressing and succeeding in life? I know this is quite risky but this once again is another glass ceiling that’s been created by society to create inequality. In order to tackle this problem there needs to be a clear definition of what autism is? Whether it’s a genetic condition? How to curb the effects? Raising awareness on a wide scale and educating people about the condition. Sorry this is short but I have been extremely busy this Ramadan.
